Content strategist

About

Precise, lyrical content

driven by user need.

Howdy: it's nice to meet you.

I’ve created content in diverse arenas for equally diverse clients — a vocation that draws heavily on my training as a fiction writer. No matter what I’m working on, my goal remains the same: To wholly engage the reader and effect change.

I’m a senior content strategist at 18F, a digital consultancy and design firm within the federal government. As the agency’s first content strategist, I helped build our content team and define our organizational voice. I led the creation of the 18F Content Guide, and I’m the founder and director of the Writing Lab — an internal group that provides on-demand writing and editing help to anyone who needs it. My clients at 18F include NASA, the National Science Foundation, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, USCIS, and the U.S. Web Design Standards, among others.

In a previous life, I led writer-facing editorial, recruiting, and education efforts at Scripted.com. Before that, I spent several years developing online coursework for an art school. When I’m not at work, I’m a poetry reader for the Portland Review and the fiction editor of the Submission Reading Series.

I live in Portland with my husband, our two dogs, and an ever-expanding taxidermy collection.
